FSU Beach Volleyball 3-Peats as CCSA Champions

Florida State was undefeated during the CCSA Tournament in Cartersville, Georgia. The Seminoles captured a third straight conference crown with wins over Florida International and LSU on Sunday.

FSU opened the day with a 5-0 win over the Golden Panthers in the semifinals. The FIU combinations of Lina Bernier and Erika Zembyla won the first set on Court 2 while Federica Frasca and Margherita Bianchin won the second set on Court 1, but the Seminoles managed to win both duels.

On Court 1, Tory Paranagua and Vanessa Freire were victorious, 21-14, 18-21, 15-11. Katie Horton and Hailey Luke won for the Seminoles on Court 2, 13-21, 21-14, 19-17. All three other FSU pairs won in straight sets.

LSU collected a 4-1 win over South Carolina to advance to the final, but were no match for the Seminoles, who won 3-0. Horton and Luke were the only pair of Seminoles to win in straight sets, beating LSU’s Haleigh Nelson and Mandi Orellana, 21-18, 21-19.

Macy Jerger and Sara Putt gave FSU its second point with a 11-21, 21-15, 15-9 win over LSU’s Olivia Powers and Hunter Domanski. Francesca Goncalves and Eva Torruella sealed the match for the Seminoles with a 21-17, 19-21, 15-12 victory on Court 5 over Riley Young and Maddie Ligon of LSU.

With a third straight title, FSU has clinched a spot in the NCAA Championships. The Seminoles will learn their pairing later.
