FSU Beach Volleyball Rolls Through Pool Play

Florida State beach volleyball now sits just two wins away from a third straight CCSA Tournament championship. After pitching a pair of shutouts on Friday, the Seminoles swept through pool play with two more wins on Saturday.

The top-seeded Seminoles started the day with a 4-1 win over No. 4 seed LSU to clinch a trip to the semifinals. FSU ended the day with a 5-0 win over fifth-seeded Georgia State.

In the first match of the day, the Seminoles were able to win in straight sets on Courts 2-5. The lone LSU duel victory came on Court 1 as the Tigers’ Claire Coppola and Kristen Nuss beat the FSU pair of Tory Paranagua and Vanessa Freire, 21-12, 21-19.

The Seminoles didn’t lose a single set in the second match of the day. The only pair for Georgia State to score more than 16 points in a set was Annika and Teegan Van Gunst who were defeated by FSU’s Francesca Goncalves and Eva Torruella, 21-15, 21-19.

Florida State will take the court again in Cartersville, Georgia at 9 a.m. EST on Sunday to face Florida International in the first semifinal. South Carolina will face LSU or Florida Atlantic in the other semifinal.
