Lead Story

For a second straight Friday, Florida State softball split a doubleheader. The Seminoles bounced back from a 1-0 loss at Boston College to win the second contest in dramatic fashion, 5-4.

A pair of FSU errors in the fourth inning of the first game allowed Carly Severini to score the game’s only run for the Eagles. Pitcher Allyson Frei threw a 2-hit shutout in the win.

It looked as though Boston College might complete the sweep as it raced to a 4-0 lead in the second game, but FSU came through with five runs in the sixth inning. Florida State was able to take advantage of some Boston College miscues before Leslie Farris delivered the 2-run single that put the Seminoles ahead for good.
