Spring game Saturday brought good news to Florida State football six hours before the game was slated to kick off. 4-star offensive lineman Dontae Lucas announced that he committed to the Seminoles.

Lucas has been a top target for the staff, who were battling directly against the Miami Hurricanes for his commitment. Originally a product of Booker T. Washington in Miami, Lucas transferred to IMG Academy for his senior season. He’s a mauler at 6-foot-3 and 320 pounds with the perfect frame to play guard at the next level. Tight ends coach Telly Lockette was his primary recruiter.

Lucas’ commitment is the first of the weekend and probably not the last. He’s ranked as the 146th overall prospect and eighth best guard, according to 247Sports composite. His commitment brings Florida State’s class to ninth nationally and second in the ACC.
