Florida State basketball seems to have found its replacement at point guard. Reports from multiple outlets emerged on Saturday that former Albany point guard David Nichols committed to the Seminoles.

Nichols is a grad transfer who originally played for the Albany Great Danes for his first three years of eligibility. While at Albany, Nichols averaged over 16 points per game in his combined two years of starting. He also averaged over three assists and one steal while shooting around 36 percent from 3-point range.

Florida State needed to fill a roster spot after sophomore guard C.J. Walker announced he was transferring following the conclusion of the 2017-18 season. Walker started over 30 games for the Seminoles and played for over 800 minutes in his final season. Nichols will be able to play immediately in the 2018-19 season.

Nichols is built similarly to Walker at just 6-foot tall and 190 pounds. His game is similar to Walker’s as well, meaning head coach Leonard Hamilton and his staff were keen on continuity for the open roster spot.
