Florida State’s spring roster was unveiled on the official athletic department website on Wednesday.

New head coach Willie Taggart is making all players earn a jersey number in the single digits.

Levonta Taylor, who normally wears No. 1, will wear No. 28 this spring.

Quarterback James Blackman, who also wears No. 1, will wear 13.

No. 3 Cam Akers and No. 4 Khalan Laborn, both running backs, will wear Nos. 23 and 21, respectively.

No. 5 Dontavious Jackson, a linebacker, and tight end Tre’ McKitty, normally No. 6, will each wear No. 16.

Cornerback Stanford Samuels, who usually wears No. 8, will be No. 18.

Wide receiver Nyqwan Murray, who also wears No. 8, will wear No. 11 this spring.

No. 9 Jacques Patrick, a running back, will wear No. 19.

Notable subtractions from the roster include Da’Vante Phillips and Malique Jackson, both wide receivers. Phillips was suspended indefinitely from the program prior to last season. Jackson, while a senior last season, did not appear in a game, making him eligible to return in 2018.

Other notable number changes include Deonte Sheffield, a running back, who switched from No. 31 to 14. Grant Glennon, a long snapper who grayshirted last season, will wear No. 61.

Landon Dickerson, a third-year offensive lineman, who injured his knee in consecutive seasons, is listed as a redshirt sophomore, meaning he had three years of eligibility remaining. Fullbacks Johnathan Vickers and Gabe Nabers are both now listed at tight end.

Jaiden Woodbey, an early enrollee at safety, will wear No. 20. Linebacker Amari Gainer, an early enrollee, will wear No. 33. The third early enrollee, offensive lineman Christian Armstrong will wear No. 77.

There were no other new numbers or notable attrition.
