It’s Selection Sunday, Florida State fans. As your day chugs along, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State softball completed a doubleheader sweep of North Florida on Saturday, but the significance goes beyond that. Head coach Lonni Alameda earned win No. 600, with 443 of those coming at FSU.

The Seminoles topped the Ospreys 13-0 and 9-6 on Saturday. Anna Shelnutt and Sydney Sherrill each drove in three runs in the first game and Shelnutt was just a single shy of the cycle. Shelnutt scored four runs while Sherrill had four hits as Kylee Hanson picked up the win.

Sherrill also homered in the second game, which was a bit more competitive. She, Shelnutt, Cali Harrod and Dani Morgan all had two hits. Meghan King earned the win in the circle.

FSU will have an extended rest before opening ACC play with a 3-game home series against Virginia Tech.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU softball, FSU track and field concluded the NCAA Indoor Championships. FSU baseball was swept by Wake Forest in a doubleheader, losing the first game, 4-3, and the second by an 8-1 score. FSU beach volleyball fell to Pepperdine, 4-1, but topped Hawaii, 4-1, out in California.

On the Agenda

FSU men’s tennis will be at Pepperdine on Sunday. FSU beach volleyball wraps up its trip to California with contests against UCLA and USC.

News and Notes

Virginia took down North Carolina to win the ACC Championship on Saturday night, 71-63.

FSU earned a No. 9 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will face Missouri on Friday night in Nashville.
