We’re two days from the unveiling of the brackets and for Florida State, all seems well. Despite being ousted by Louisville on Wednesday in the ACC Tournament, the Seminoles seem to be a safe bet to be in the field of 68 come Sunday.
According to Bracket Matrix, FSU is in the field in 48 of a possible 49 brackets. The lone exception is KPI Sports. In that projection, FSU is the first team out.
Throughout the brackets, the Seminoles are seeded as high as a No. 8 and as low as a No. 12. The average has them as a No. 9. For the final time before Selection Sunday, here’s where the usual experts put Florida State:

ESPN: West Region No. 10 vs. (7) Texas A&M in Detroit (March 9)
CBS Sports: Midwest Region No. 9 vs. (8) TCU in Nashville (March 9)
SB Nation: Midwest Region No. 9 vs. (8) Missouri in Omaha (March 9)
NBC Sports: East Region No. 9 vs. (8) Missouri in Boston (March 9)
USA Today: West Region No. 10 vs. (7) Seton Hall in Detroit (March 9)
Summary
Three of the five experts we usually survey have Florida State as a No. 9 seed and two of them have the Seminoles facing eighth-seeded Missouri. NBC Sports’ Dave Ommen and SB Nation’s Christ Dobbertean both have that match-up. Ommen puts it as part of the East Region in Boston and Dobbertean as part of the Midwest Region in Nashville.
Two of the three prior meetings between the schools came on a neutral court with the last being in Atlanta in December 1980. The Seminoles topped the Tigers that time around, 68-64.
CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm pits No. 9 seed FSU against eighth-seeded TCU in Nashville for the Midwest Region. The Seminoles, as a No. 12 seed, beat the fifth-seeded Horned Frogs in the Midwest Region to open the 1998 NCAA Tournament, 96-87. TCU won 71-70 in the last meeting in Corpus Christi in November 2004.
An NCAA Tournament rematch is also on the table for ESPN’s Joe Lunardi who puts 10th-seeded FSU up against No. 7 seed Texas A&M. Those were the seedings for the 2011 NCAA Tournament in a contest won by the Seminoles, 57-50. The only difference is location as the prior contest was in Chicago as opposed to Detroit.
The USA Today duo of Shelby Mast and Scott Gleeson also have FSU as a No. 10 seed, but against seventh-seeded Seton Hall in Detroit as part of the West Region. FSU is 3-1 all-time against the Pirates, but Seton Hall won the last meeting in December 1999, 79-56.
