Things went from good to better on Sunday afternoon for Florida State.

After flipping 4-star linebacker Xavier Peters earlier in the day, the Seminoles have landed the commitment of 4-star defensive tackle Dennis Briggs. Like Peters, Briggs visited FSU this weekend. Aside from a Twitter post from Sleeper Athletes, the Orlando Sentinel was the first to report on the commitment.

A 6-foot-4, 250-pound prospect out of Gateway High School in Kissimmee, Briggs is listed by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 323 overall prospect for 2018. He’s also listed as the 25th best player for Florida and the 52nd best overall defensive tackle.

The battle for Briggs was expected to come down to FSU and Miami. Briggs becomes the 14th member of the class of 2018 for the Seminoles and the second defensive tackle commitment, along with Georgia prospect Robert Cooper.

Entering the day, FSU ranked 25th on the recruiting trail as a team, according to the Composite. After adding Peters, the Seminoles moved up to 18th. The addition of Briggs brings FSU up two more spots to 16th, just ahead of rival Florida.
