Florida State gained yet another 2018 recruit on Monday night, with 3-star offensive tackle Jalen Goss announcing on Twitter that he had committed to the Seminoles.

Goss hails from Lowndes high school in Valdosta, Georgia where he ranks as the 878th overall recruit and 72nd offensive tackle, according to 247Sports composite. Those numbers might frighten some fans. Keep in mind that the recruiting rankings this year have been notoriously weird, since there was a merger between two of the major recruiting sites. Looking at the offer list provides more clarity than the raw numbers.

When this is taken into consideration, Goss is more well regarded than his rankings suggest. He has offers from Miami, Michigan, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Florida to name a few. He possesses a good frame at 6-foot-7 and 265 pounds, and will likely take a redshirt to bulk up before he sees action.

Goss received an official offer from FSU on Jan. 10 and unofficially visited the school on Jan. 13. Three members of the Florida State staff recently visited Goss in Georgia. Donte Pimpleton, Greg Frey, and Telly Lockette apparently sealed the deal during that in-home pitch.

Goss is the second offensive tackle in the 2018 FSU class. His commitment puts Florida State at 22nd in the nation and fourth in the ACC.
