Happy hump day, Florida State fans. As your week chugs along, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

One day after being named a first-team All-American by Football Writers Association of America, Florida State safety Derwin James was named a second-team selection on Tuesday by the American Football Coaches Association and Sporting News.

James will add those honors to being named a second-team selection by Walter Camp Foundation and the Associated Press. After running back Dalvin Cook, a Unanimous All-American, and DeMarcus Walker received Consensus All-American honors last season, the Seminoles will have none of those in 2017.

James has already wrapped his FSU career up as he announced earlier this month that he would not play in the Independence Bowl against Southern Mississippi, but instead focus on the draft. James recorded 84 tackles this season, including 5.5 for loss and one sack to go with a team-high two interceptions, 11 pass break-ups and one defensive touchdown.
