Happy hump day, Florida State fans. As you get ready to take on the remainder of the week, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State didn’t only have found a new head football coach on Tuesday, but a new defensive coordinator as well.

According to reports, Jim Leavitt will join head coach Willie Taggart in Tallahassee. Leavitt has previous stints at Colorado and the NFL, but most notably at South Florida.

Leavitt was the Bulls’ first head coach and went 95-57 in 11 years. Leavitt had just two losing seasons in 11 years, eight winning seasons and took USF to five bowl games, going 3-2.

Oregon has improved by 87 spots this year under Leavitt, going from 126th in total defense to 39th. In two years at Colorado, he took a defense that ranked 114th in 2014 to 85th in 2015 and 19th in 2016.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Tuesday.

On the Agenda

FSU will host Loyola-Maryland at 7 p.m. EST on Wednesday. The contest airs on ACC Network Extra.
