It’s Thursday, Florida State fans, which means the weekend is near. As you wait for it, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics as we update the news and notes section of this post throughout the day.

Lead Story

Big things are expected out of the reigning women’s basketball ACC Player of the Year for the 2017-18 season.

According to a release, FSU senior forward Shakayla Thomas has been named a second-team preseason All-American by Street and Smith and a third-team selection by Lindy’s. Thomas led the Seminoles last season with nearly 15 points and six rebounds per game.

Thomas, according to the release, already has two All-American honors to her name and would join former teammate Leticia Romero as the only 3-time All-American in program history. The Seminoles open the season against North Florida on Nov. 10.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Wednesday.

On the Agenda

FSU baseball will play the first of two Garnet and Gold scrimmages on Thursday at 3 p.m. EST. FSU soccer will visit Florida at 6 p.m. EST.
