Florida State’s 7-game winning streak over Miami ended in absolutely heartbreaking fashion on Saturday as the Seminoles fell at home, 24-20. Darrell Langham scored the game-winner for the Hurricanes on a 23-yard touchdown pass from Malik Rosier with six seconds remaining.

With the loss, FSU fell to 1-3 for the first time since 1976 and 0-2 at home for the first time since 1974. On a positive note, The Daily Nole staff of editor Mike Ferguson, lead writer Clint Eiland, staff writer Josh Mixon and recruiting analyst Jay Brading hand out their game balls for the Seminoles who stood out on Saturday:

Offense

Mike, Clint, Jay: Cam Akers, RB
Freshman running back Cam Akers seems to be coming into his own. The highly-touted youngster finished with 121 yards rushing on 20 carries on Saturday, which included a 46-yard scamper. The rushing total and long run are career-highs for Akers.

Josh: Jacques Patrick, RB
For the second week in a row, Jacques Patrick had a great game on the ground. The junior rushed for 91 yards on just 11 carries, which amounts to an 8.3 yards per carry average. Patrick also caught three passes for 15 yards.

Defense

Unanimous Game Ball: Josh Sweat, DE
Junior defensive end Josh Sweat’s numbers didn’t reflect it from Saturday, but he lived in the Miami backfield. Sweat finished with five total tackles, 1.5 for loss and 0.5 sacks. Sweat also knocked down a pair of passes in the loss.

Special Teams

Unanimous Game Ball: Logan Tyler, P
