Why QB Justin Fields Should Choose FSU

After decomitting from Penn State last week, 5-star quarterback Justin Fields has now revealed his top schools. Florida State, Florida, Auburn, and Georgia have all emerged as potential landing spots for the highly-coveted quarterback.

Fields, the top dual-threat quarterback for 2018 and No. 3 overall prospect per the 247Sports Composite rankings, has been on the radar of top schools for some time, and has yet to shy away from Florida State. The coveted quarterback recently was in Tallahassee at Jimbo Fisher’s camp this past week.

He seems to have a great amount of interest in playing for the Seminoles. When interviewed by the media, Fields said that Florida State is the best fit for him due to the depth chart and offensive scheme.

Here are four reasons why the highly-sought signal-caller should pledge his services to the Seminoles:

1. A history of transforming quarterbacks into top talent
Jimbo Fisher and his staff have recruited great quarterbacks with dual threat-traits in recent seasons. Look at Jamies Winston and Deondre Francois. Both of those quarterbacks were highly-ranked coming out of high school and the transformations they made to become elite at their position is inevitable. Winston was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Under Fisher, FSU quarterbacks Christian Ponder and E.J. Manuel also each went in the first round.

2. Playing at Doak Campbell Stadium is unlike any other college experience
The atmosphere on game days in Tallahassee is one of the greatest game day experiences in all of college football. The roar of the crowd and the electrifying feeling after a win are rarely paralleled.

3. Current quarterback depth is not great
If Fields does choose the Seminoles, he could come in and potentially be the starting quarterback in his first season. Florida State will still have Francois on the roster, but with a coveted recruit like Fields, the competition will be electric and a close race to keep an eye on. Although it’s unlikely that he would unseat a redshirt junior Francois, the talent behind Francois is young and/or largely unproven. That would give Fields the opportunity to move up the depth chart quickly.

4. Fields could help Florida State win multiple conference championships
The amount of talent that the Seminoles already have as freshmen and sophomores is set apart from any other team in the ACC. Should Fields choose the Seminoles, he would have a great chance to win multiple ACC Championships, given that Florida State is considered the powerhouse team of the conference and with Clemson losing and set to lose a lot of talent.
