After a splendid season that resulted in a nationally ranked finish, a No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament and the first NCAA Tournament appearance in five years, Florida State didn’t exactly draw a marquee match-up for this season’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

FSU will be pitted against Rutgers, according to a release from the ACC. While FSU finished one win shy of a school-record last season and at one point, ascended to a No. 6 national ranking, the Scarlet Knights finished 15-18 and just 3-15 in Big Ten play.

The contest will be the first meeting between Florida State and Rutgers in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and only the second ever. The Seminoles won the first meeting by an 87-77 on Dec. 22, 1967 in Tallahassee. This one will be in Piscataway, New Jersey. Rutgers is in just its fourth season in the Big Ten.

Prior to last season, the Seminoles had lost seven straight contests in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Fortunately for FSU, it was able to end that streak with a 75-67 victory over Minnesota at the Donald L. Tucker Center.

Florida State has not won consecutive games in the challenge since winning four straight from 2003-06. The last road win for the Seminoles in the challenge came over Minnesota in 2005. Dates, times and networks will be announced at a later date. The ACC/Big Ten Challenge typically takes place in late November.
