The question as to how Florida State will get under its scholarship limit for the 2017-18 basketball season has now been answered.

According to multiple reports, 3-star guard Bryan Trimble has been released from his letter of intent. Trimble and RaiQuan Gray were the first two members of FSU’s 2017 class when they both committed on Nov. 9, 2016.

With Jonathan Isaac, Dwayne Bacon and Xavier Rathan-Mayes all leaving early for the NBA Draft and Michael Ojo and Jarquez Smith graduating, the Seminoles had only five scholarships to give for 2017 to remain at 13. FSU exceeded that number on May 24 when 4-star M.J. Walker announced his commitment to the program.

Walker, a shooting guard and top 30 national player, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings is the highest ranked member of the class. Trimble, who plays the same position, was the lowest.

Entering the day, FSU had the No. 12 overall class for 2017. The subtraction of Trimble does not change that.
