Florida State has become a regular in the mid-December Orange Bowl Classic in Sunrise, but it doesn’t always get to face a “name” opponent.

Those in the past have included Florida Atlantic, Western Kentucky, Tulsa and most recently Manhattan. That will change in December 2017, according a report from Jon Rothstein.

This time around, the Seminoles are expected to take on Oklahoma State. The contest is set for the BB&T Center on Dec. 16, per the report.

The Cowboys are coming off a 20-13 season which ended with a 1-point loss to Michigan in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Oklahoma State beat FSU 60-56 in the only prior match-up on Dec. 18, 1964.

That however, isn’t the only hardwood connection between FSU and Oklahoma State. Stillwater is where Florida State head coach Leonard Hamilton got his first head coaching job. Hamilton went 56-63 in four seasons with the Cowboys from 1986-90.
