The Daily Nole — April 29, 2017: FSU Softball Blanks UNC, 3-0

Lead Story

Florida State’s unbeaten softball streak in ACC play hit 27 on Friday night as the Seminoles blanked North Carolina, 3-0.

Meghan King tossed a 1-hit shutout for the Seminoles, allowing just two walks while striking out eight. The contest remained scoreless until FSU broke through with two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth. Cali Harrod and Carsyn Gordon each had a hit and a run for the Seminoles in the victory.

The Seminoles and Tar Heels continue the 3-game series on Saturday.

Between the Lines

In addition to softball, both FSU’s men and women’s tennis teams fell to North Carolina, 4-1 in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals. FSU track and field participated in the Tom Jones Memorial. FSU baseball topped Virginia, 6-4.

On the Agenda

Aside from softball, FSU women’s golf will play in the Northwestern Quad Match in Illinois. FSU baseball resumes its series with Virginia at 1 p.m. EST on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

The final four rounds of the NFL Draft will be announced at noon.

Florida State offensive tackle Roderick Johnson was selected 160th overall in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns.

Florida State baseball fell to Virginia on Saturday afternoon, 8-0.

Former Florida State cornerback Marquez White was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round of the NFL Draft.
