For Florida State fans, the good news on the recruiting trail continues to pour in.

On Thursday, Asante Samuel, Jr. committed to Florida State, choosing the Seminoles over rival Miami. A 4-star prospect from St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Samuel is the No. 114 overall player for 2018, per the 247Sports Composite rankings, and the 14th best cornerback in the country.

Listed at 5-10 and 165 pounds, Samuel is also the son of former NFL Pro Bowl corner Asante Samuel. The father made four Pro Bowls in 11 seasons with the New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons.

Samuel, the younger, becomes the ninth member of Florida State’s 2018 class and the third-highest rated player behind running back James Cook and defensive tackle Robert Cooper. Samuel joins Isaiah Bolden, a 4-star from Zephyrhills, as cornerbacks to commit to the Seminoles for this cycle.

FSU entered the day with the No. 8 overall class for 2018. The addition of Samuel brings the class to No. 6 nationally, but third in the ACC behind Miami and Clemson.
