It’s Thursday, Florida State fans. Before we get to the weekend, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State’s women’s basketball assistant Lance White has been named Division I Assistant Coach of the Year by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

Under head coach Sue Semrau and with the help of White’s tutelage, Florida State reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament this past season before being bounced on Monday by top-seeded South Carolina. According to a release, the award “is presented to one associate head coach or assistant coach in each membership division who demonstrates commitment to their program, their student-athletes and their head coach; their impact coaching on court; their mentorship and impact on other coaches; and their professional manner and attitude.”

White, associate head coach and a graduate of Texas Tech, has been with the program since the 2003-04 season. Since then, FSU has made the NCAA Tournament 12 times.

Between the Lines
