Florida State is in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in five years as the Seminoles were given a No. 3 seed in the West Region for the dance. In the selection committee’s list that ranked the 68 teams, the Seminoles finished 10th.

The traditional polls, though not all that relevant this time of year, weren’t as kind to FSU. In the USA Today Coaches Poll, the Seminoles fell one spot from No. 17 to No. 18. In the AP Poll, the Seminoles held firm at No. 16.

FSU competed in the ACC Tournament this past week, splitting a pair of contests. After beating Virginia Tech 74-68 on Thursday night, Florida State was eliminated by Notre Dame on Friday night in the ACC semifinal, 77-73.

FSU opens the NCAA Tournament on Thursday against 14th-seed Florida Gulf Coast in Orlando.
