Bracketology: Noles Remain a No. 2 Seed, Experts Say

Despite taking a drubbing at Notre Dame over the weekend, most “bracketologists” still have Florida State penciled in as a No. 2 seed in their current NCAA Tournament brackets.

The one dissenter, whose bracket was not posted here in previous weeks, was Patrick Stevens of the Washington Post. In a bracket unveiled Wednesday, Stevens has FSU currently sitting on the 3-line against No. 14 seed and projected Patriot League champion Bucknell in the East Region.

All six experts currently have the Seminoles destined for Orlando. That would be a welcomed thing, considering FSU is 18-0 in the state of Florida this season. Jerry Palm of CBS Sports also has FSU taking on Bucknell in a bracket updated Friday, but in the No. 2 vs. 15 match-up and in the Midwest Region.

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi and Shelby Mast of USA Today each have FSU sitting as the second seed in the East Region. In a bracket released Thursday, Lundari has the Seminoles taking on projected Summit League champion North Dakota State. Mast, in a bracket updated Friday, projects that FSU will face Atlantic Sun champion Florida Gulf Coast.

Dave Ommen of NBC Sports pits second-seeded FSU against No. 15 seed and projected Southern Conference champion Furman in the Midwest Region in a bracket updated on Thursday.

Chris Dobbertean of SB Nation didn’t release a bracket Friday, but he did pencil the Seminoles as the No. 2 in the Midwest and sixth overall. No. 15 seeds in Dobbertean’s projection include North Dakota State, Florida Gulf Coast, Furman and UNC-Asheville.

This week, FSU will face both Pittsburgh and Boston College. Neither are currently close to appearing on an NCAA Tournament bracket.
