Known for being a football school, Florida State found itself ranked sixth nationally as it visited Georgia Tech on Wednesday night. By the latter parts of the first half, it was down the equivalent of four touchdowns in a 78-56 loss.

The 56 points was a season-low for FSU (18-3, 6-2 ACC) as the Seminoles shot less than 29 percent from the floor. At one point in the first half, they trailed 41-13 and had gone more than nine minutes without a field goal during a stretch where they missed 18 straight shots.

The Yellow Jackets (12-8, 4-4 ACC) dominated every facet of the game, shooting nearly 43 percent from the field and pounding FSU on the glass, 53-39. Freshman Josh Okogie scored 35 points — the most for any opposing player against FSU this season — and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the Yellow Jackets. Ben Lammers added 18 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks. Quinton Stephens added 13 points which included a game-high three 3-pointers.

FSU trailed 41-15 at the break and never got closer than 18 in the second half. Dwayne Bacon was the only Seminole to score in double-figures with 12 points, but it came on a second straight horrid shooting day as Bacon went just 4-for-15 from the field.

The Seminoles will try to avoid losing consecutive games for the first time all season on Saturday as they head north to take on Syracuse. Georgia Tech will look to get over .500 in ACC play and collect a third win over a ranked opponent as it plays host to Notre Dame on Saturday.
