It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans and though it looks to be a relatively quiet one, we’ll do our best to keep you up on the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State will be bringing in two quarterbacks in 2017. 3-star Belle Glade prospect James Blackman announced on Monday that he was shutting down his recruitment and honoring his commitment to FSU.

A 6-5, 165-pound prospect, Blackman is currently the No. 19 pro-style quarterback and 422nd ranked overall prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. 247Sports reported that Blackman was set to visit Florida and South Florida later this month, but will not make those visits.

Blackman joins early enrollee Bailey Hockman as quarterbacks to commit to FSU in 2017. With Sean Maguire graduating and Malik Henry transferring, starter Deondre Francois and embattled J.J. Cosentino are the only two scholarship quarterbacks returning.

Between the Lines

FSU’s women’s tennis team defeated Columbia 5-2 to open the dual match season.
