Shhhhh… Don’t tell anyone, but Florida State is good at men’s basketball. After an 88-72 win over Duke on Tuesday, the Seminoles’ ascension is being reflected in a way once thought unimaginable — as a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

In the latest bracket released Friday from CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm, the Seminoles currently occupy the top seed in the Midwest Region. Palm has FSU playing in Orlando against 16-seed and projected MAAC champion, Rider.

Both NBC Sports’ Dave Ommen and ESPN’s Joe Lunardi have Florida State penciled in as a No. 2 seed and playing games in Orlando in brackets released Thursday.

Ommen has the Seminoles pitted against projected Ivy League champion and No. 15 seed Princeton in the East Region. Lunardi has FSU in the Midwest Region against 15-seed and projected Sun Belt champion, Georgia Southern.

At 16-1, Florida State is currently ranked ninth in the AP Poll and 4-0 in ACC play for the first time. It can further its case on Saturday with a fourth straight win over a ranked opponent as the Seminoles visit North Carolina. The Tar Heels are currently listed as high as a No. 3 seed and as low as a No. 5.
