FSU’s Bacon Named ACC Player of the Week

Florida State sophomore guard Dwayne Bacon was named the ACC’s Player of the Week on Tuesday after back-to-back stellar performances to open conference play.

In the Seminoles’ 88-72 win at home over Wake Forest on Wednesday to open ACC play, Bacon scored 23 points on 8-for-15 shooting to go along with two steals. Bacon was particularly impressive down the stretch as FSU finished the game on a 27-6 run.

In Saturday’s thrilling 60-58 win at Virginia, Bacon stole the show, finishing with a career-high 29 points which included 26 in the second half. With the Seminoles trailing 58-57, his step-back 3-pointer with two seconds remaining lifted FSU to the upset. Bacon was 11-for-18 from the field in the win and a career-best 6-for-9 from deep. He added two steals.

Over the course of a week, Bacon averaged 26 points on 58 percent shooting. For the season, Bacon is averaging a team-high 18.1 points per game and shooting 49 percent from the floor. The sophomore will look to stay hot in ACC play as the Seminoles host Virginia Tech on Saturday.
