What most expected was confirmed Saturday as Florida State junior running back Dalvin Cook announced he would forego his senior season and declare for the 2017 NFL Draft.

Cook tallied 207 yards of total offense in Friday night’s 33-32 victory over Michigan in the Capital One Orange Bowl. Cook finished the season with a school-record 1,765 yards rushing — beating his own record set last season. Cook made the announcement via his Facebook page.

Earlier in the year, Cook broke both the FSU career records for rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. Cook was a finalist for the Doak Walker Award and the only running back to be named a Consensus All-American.

A Miami native, Cook finishes his FSU career with 4,464 yards rushing and 935 yards receiving in three seasons to go with 48 total touchdowns — 46 rushing.

Tasked with replacing Cook will likely be a combination of backs. Jacques Patrick finished with 350 yards rushing this season, which ranked second on the team. Freshman Amir Rasul is a player the coaching staff is also very high. Cam Akers headlines a trio of talented high school backs coming in 2017.
