It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans and the Capital One Orange Bowl is rapidly approaching. We’ll help get you there by updating the news and notes section throughout the day.

Lead Story

A month ago, some Florida State fans were fearful that head football coach Jimbo Fisher would be leaving to take a job at LSU. Now, it looks like the FSU head man will be in Tallahassee for a long, long time.

On Monday, FSU confirmed that Fisher and the school had reached a contract extension through 2024. Fisher will receive about a $300,000 per year raise starting next season, bringing his base salary to $5.55 million, according to reports.

Fisher’s new contract comes with plenty of bonuses and incentives for things like ACC Championships and New Year’s Six bowls. Buyouts will be based on assistant coaches’ salaries. In seven seasons under Fisher, the Seminoles are 77-17 with five straight major bowl appearances, three ACC titles and a national championship.

Between the Lines

Florida State’s men’s basketball team slowly pulled away from Samford in a 76-68 victory. The FSU women crushed North Florida, 95-39.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Tuesday.

News and Notes

5-star prospect and FSU defensive end target Joshua Kaindoh will make his college decision on Friday.

Florida State baseball will begin the year ranked ninth in Collegiate Baseball’s preseason poll. FSU first baseman Dylan Busby and shortstop Taylor Walls were named Collegiate Baseball preseason All-Americans.
