The NFL season hasn’t been a great one for the Jacksonville Jaguars. In fact, it’s been far from it, but on Sunday, a rookie from FSU made what he hopes to be the first of many career interceptions.
In the Jaguars’ 21-20 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday, Jalen Ramsey stepped in front of a second quarter pass from Houston quarterback Brock Osweiler and returned it 35 yards to the Texans’ 25-yard-line. The interception would set up a Jacksonville touchdown as the Jaguars led for much of the game before falling. Former FSU linebacker Telvin Smith also had a pick in the loss.
For the season, Ramsey, the fifth overall pick by Jacksonville in the 2016 NFL Draft, has been stellar, but hadn’t come up with a pick until Week 15. For the year, Ramsey has 57 tackles and a forced fumble.
Between the Lines
FSU’s swimming and diving team finished up the Auburn Invite.
On the Agenda
Both FSU’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will host games. The men will take on Samford at 2 p.m. before the women face North Florida at 6 p.m. Both contests will air on ACC Network Extra.
News and Notes
FSU moved up two spots in this week’s AP Poll to No. 21. The Seminoles were also up a spot to No. 22 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
The FSU women’s basketball team held firm at No. 7 in this week’s AP Poll.
ACC players of the week for various sports will be unveiled.
FSU and head football coach Jimbo Fisher have agreed to terms on a contract extension through 2024.
The FSU men’s basketball team defeated Samford 76-68 on Monday to conclude non-conference play.
