The Daily Nole — Dec. 17, 2016: FSU 12th Nationally in Recruiting

FSU athletics

After a 6-day hiatus, we finally have Florida State athletic events again, FSU fans. We’ll keep you updated on the latest by updating our news and notes section.

Lead Story

Florida State landed a pair of 3-star prospects on Friday, but only managed to move up one spot in the Composite team rankings to No. 12, according to 247Sports.

As many had expected, junior college linebacker Adonis Thomas pledged his services to the Seminoles early in the day before tight end Tre’ McKitty flipped his commitment from Oregon to FSU in the evening. The addition of the two prospects helped FSU rise from 13th to 12th, but the Seminoles’ class of 2017 is a long way from complete.

Other top prospects the Seminoles are hoping to land include 5-star running back Cam Akers, 5-star Joshua Kaindoh and 5-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Friday.

On the Agenda

The FSU swimming and diving team will be in Alabama for the Auburn Invite. The FSU men’s basketball team will take on Manhattan in the Orange Bowl Classic in Sunrise at 1:30 p.m. EST. That contest will air on FOX Sports Florida.

News and Notes

FSU witnessed a 5 percent increase in average football attendance for 2016.

Behind 16 points from Dwayne Bacon, FSU defeated Manhattan in the Orange Bowl Classic, 83-67.
