It’s Thursday, Florida State fans and it appears as though it could be a slow one in FSU athletics. We’ll do our best to keep you on the latest by updating the news and notes section throughout the day.

Lead Story

Former Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston and Erica Kinsman, a former FSU student who accused him in 2013 of a December 2012 sexual assault, came to an agreement not to move forward with civil lawsuits, multiple outlets reported Wednesday.

Winston was accused in October 2013 during FSU’s run to the national championship. In December of that year, State Attorney Willie Meggs announced he would not pursue charges due to a lack of evidence. Winston would go to become the youngest player to win the Heisman Trophy and late in 2014, was cleared by former Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Major Harding at a Code of Conduct hearing at the school.

Winston would go on to be selected first overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2015 NFL Draft. Earlier this year, FSU settled with Kinsman for alleged Title IX violations in the amount of $950,000. Kinsman had filed a civil lawsuit against Winston, who counter-sued for defamation of character, but it was reported Wednesday that no hearing will take place.

Full details of this settlement are not yet known, but it will likely result in the end of a saga that has lasted for more than three years. According to reports, the two parties will file for a joint dismissal within 20 days.
