The Daily Nole — Dec. 13, 2016: Malik Henry to Transfer

Only 17 days remain until Florida State takes on Michigan in the Capital One Orange Bowl, but we plan on helping you get there by updating the news and notes section throughout the day.

Lead Story

What has seemed like an inevitability for some time became reality late Monday night as reports broke that Florida State freshman quarterback Malik Henry would be transferring.

A 4-star recruit out of California, Henry enrolled early at FSU and performed well in April’s spring game in Orlando, passing for 205 yards and a pair of touchdowns. To say that Henry was embattled however, would be accurate. The freshman was suspended earlier in the year for a violation of team rules and had not been with the team for the latter part of the 2016 regular season.

Throughout his prep career in which he played for multiple high schools, run-ins with coaches were alleged to be an issue. Henry was one of four scholarship quarterbacks on the FSU roster, along with starter Deondre Francois, a redshirt freshman, senior Sean Maguire and redshirt sophomore J.J. Consentino. Where Henry transfers to remains to be seen.
