Florida State volleyball was only able to ride the momentum of a thrilling come-from-behind victory over Florida for about a set as the Seminoles fell to No. 6 national seed Stanford in the regional semifinals of the NCAA Tournament in Madison, Wisconsin on Friday night, 27-25, 20-25, 9-25, 23-25.

It looks as though FSU (26-6) would cruise in the first set as the Seminoles raced to 24-19 lead, but Stanford (24-7) answered with five straight points to force a set battle. The Seminoles were ultimately about to take the set on a Cardinal error.

After dropping the next two sets, FSU led 23-22 late in the fourth, but the Cardinal scored the final three points to take the set and the match.

Natasha Calkins and Milica Kubura led the Seminoles with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Cecilie Woie, the FSU libero, had 21 digs to pace Florida State. Katie Horton and Madison Sullivan each finished with 14 digs.

Inky Ajanaku and Kathryn Plummer combined for 32 kills for Stanford in the victory. Morgan Hentz recorded a match-high 27 digs in the win.

Stanford will face host and third national seed Wisconsin in the regional final on Saturday.
