We hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving, Florida State fans and we wish you a happy Friday. We’ll keep you updated on the latest in FSU athletics before the big game against rival Florida on Saturday night. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Most Florida State fans are thankful for head coach Jimbo Fisher and after reports surfaced on Thanksgiving, it appears that they’ll get to be for a little bit longer.

According to reports, LSU has shifted the attention of its head coaching search from Fisher, who was once reported to be the Tigers’ top choice, to Houston head coach Tom Herman. Herman reportedly met with LSU officials on Thursday and the two parties are working toward a deal.

A former Ohio State assistant under Urban Meyer, Herman is 22-3 as head man of the Cougars. That includes a 38-24 Peach Bowl victory over Florida State last season. Herman was thought to be the top choice for the Texas job, but assuming he takes his talents to Baton Rouge, reports are that the likelihood of Charlie Strong returning for a fourth season in Austin would increase dramatically.

Texas had shown interest in Fisher in 2013 before hiring Strong. Fisher had served as an LSU assistant from 2000-06, but has been at FSU since 2007 and head coach since 2010. Fisher is 76-17 as head coach of the Seminoles with three ACC titles and a national championship.

Between the Lines

FSU’s men’s basketball team let an 18-point lead slip away Thursday in an 89-86 loss to Temple in the NIT Season Tip-Off semifinals. Dwayne Bacon led FSU with 22 points. The FSU women blew out Winthrop in the Paradise Jam 98-35 behind 17 points from Leticia Romero.

That one will stream live on FloHoops.
