wlpearce.com/FSU athletics

Happy Veteran’s Day, Florida State fans and especially to those who served. It’s a busy Friday in FSU athletics headlined by a big football game against Boston College. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Junior safety Trey Marshall was not listed on the injury report for the Friday night contest against Boston College and is expected to play. Marshall left last week’s game against N.C. State with concussion symptoms and did not return.

Marshall’s return is important for an FSU secondary that is missing cornerback Marcus Lewis and safety Derwin James. In eight games this season, Marshall ranks second on the team with 44 total tackles, including two for loss.

Friday night’s game against Boston College will begin at 7:30 p.m. EST and will air on ESPN2.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Thursday.

On the Agenda

In addition to the football game against Boston College, the FSU cross country team will compete in the NCAA South Regional. The FSU women’s basketball team will open the 2016-17 season at 12:30 p.m. EST against Jacksonville State and the Seminoles’ volleyball team will visit Boston College at 7:30 p.m. EST. Both contests will air on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

Three FSU basketball players made SB Nation’s list of the top 100 players for the 2016-17 season.

Florida State defeated Boston College 45-7 on Friday night at Doak Campbell Stadium.
