Happy Halloween, Florida State fans. It’s only Monday, but we’ll try to help you make it through your work week. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

The nation’s top wide receiver prospect for 2017 unveiled his top 5 schools on Sunday and fortunately for Florida State, the Seminoles made the list.

FSU was joined by rival Florida, Michigan, Ohio State and Michigan State on the list of Donovan Peoples-Jones. A 6-2, 190-pound 5-star target out of Cass Technical in Detroit, Peoples-Jones is listed at the No. 1 wide receiver for 2017 and the No. 12 overall prospect, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

According to 247Sports, Jones will make his official visit to FSU on Nov. 26 as the Seminoles host the rival Gators.

Between the Lines

FSU soccer advanced to the ACC Tournament semifinals on Sunday by beating Duke on penalty kicks, 3-2. Megan Connolly scored the goal that ultimately won the match for the Seminoles.

After dropping the first set, FSU volleyball won at Notre Dame on Sunday, 17-25, 26-24, 25-14, 25-20. Cecilie Woie and Katie Horton combined for 52 digs for the Seminoles while Milica Kubura and Christina Ambrose combined for 37 kills.

On the Agenda

FSU’s men’s tennis team will compete in the Birmingham Futures Tournament in Alabama on Monday.

News and Notes

Florida State was fined $20,000 by the ACC for comments made by head football coach Jimbo Fisher regarding officiating following Saturday’s 37-34 loss to Clemson.

FSU defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi was named ACC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week. Nnadi recorded eight tackles, included two for loss and a sack in Saturday’s 37-34 loss to Clemson.

FSU running back Dalvin Cook was named a Maxwell Award semifinalist. Cook has rushed for 1,069 yards and 11 touchdowns in eight games this season.

FSU’s men’s basketball team received 88 votes in the preseason AP Poll. Among teams that were not ranked, only Cincinnati and Dayton received more.
