The Daily Nole — Oct. 27, 2016: Fagan to Enroll Early at FSU

Two days now separate us from Florida State’s highly-anticipated clash with Clemson, but Thursday is a relatively big night for FSU athletics with two key showdowns on the schedule. The news and notes section of this post will be updated.

Florida State’s 2017 recruiting class boasts a loaded secondary and on Wednesday, the Seminoles learned that one of those members of the secondary will join the team in January.

On Wednesday, Cyrus Fagan, a 4-star safety out of Daytona Beach Mainland signed his letter of intent to play at FSU and announced that he would enroll early. A 6-2, 182-pound prospect, Fagan has been committed to Florida State since late February.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Fagan is the No. 69 overall recruit for 2017 and the 15th-ranked prospect in Florida. He’s also the seventh ranked safety nationally.

There were no FSU athletic events on Wednesday.

On the Agenda

FSU soccer will wrap up the regular season at North Carolina. That match begins at 7 p.m. EST and can be seen on ACC Network Extra. The FSU men’s basketball team will also host Southeastern University in an exhibition at 7 p.m. EST

News and Notes

Booster parking lots will open at noon EST on Saturday for FSU’s contest with Clemson.

Florida State’s men’s basketball team was picked to finish eight in the ACC during the conference’s media days on Wednesday.

Florida State wide receiver Jesus Wilson will miss Saturday’s game against Clemson with a foot injury. Wilson ranks second for FSU in catches and receiving yards.

FSU soccer will be the sixth seed in the ACC Tournament. The Seminoles will open the tournament on Sunday at third-seeded Duke.

5-star running back Cam Akers will visit take his official visit to Florida State on Saturday night. The Clinton, Mississippi prospect is the No. 2 rated running back in the country and the sixth best overall prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
