It’s game day, Florida State fans. Before you get around to watching the Seminoles host Wake Forest, we have what you may have missed from a big Friday for FSU athletics. We’ll update the news and notes section throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State’s Garnet and Gold series wrapped up Friday with the Garnet team doubling up on the Gold, 14-7. The second of two scrimmages began with the Garnet leading 7-5 — the score from Thursday.

The Gold was able to tie it at 7-7 with two runs in the bottom of the 1st inning on a double from newcomer Tyler Cavanaugh, but the Garnet team answered with seven runs in the top of the 2nd. Jackson Lueck picked up where he left off Thursday with two more hits, giving him five over the two days.

Five FSU relievers, including Dillon Brown and Grant Stewart, combined to throw nine innings of 2-hit baseball, allowing just one walk while striking out eight. The Seminoles will wrap up fall practice on Monday against the Ontario Blue Jays.
