It’s hump day, Florida State fans. That means we’re only three days away from FSU hosting Wake Forest on the gridiron. In the meantime, check out everything else you need to know about FSU athletics. The news and notes section will updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State senior safety Nate Andrews’ season and likely his collegiate career is over. Head coach Jimbo Fisher told media members Tuesday that Andrews had suffered a torn pectoral muscle and would miss the remainder of the season.

Andrews has been a significant part of the defense since arriving on campus prior to the 2013 season. Andrews led or was tied for the team-lead in interceptions in each of his first two seasons on campus. Andrews has eight career interceptions, including one this season, and is the only player on the roster with a defensive touchdown. Andrews returned an interception 56 yards for a touchdown against Wake Forest as a freshman in 2013 and scored FSU’s first touchdown of the 2014, returning a pick nine yards in a 37-31 win over Oklahoma State.

Andrews has 18 tackles this season. Fisher said Tuesday that a medical redshirt is possible, but considering that Andrews has played in four games already this season, it seems unlikely.

Florida State baseball has the No. 8 ranked recruiting class in the country.

FSU head baseball coach Mike Martin said earlier this week that injuries junior first baseman Dylan Busby and freshman infielder Drew Mendoza were not significant enough to force either to miss the start of the 2017 season.
