The Daily Nole — Sept. 27, 2016: Fisher to LSU Rumors Already Starting to Swirl

It looks to be a quiet week for Florida State athletics since there are no athletic events until Friday. Still, there are some developments starting to take place regarding the Seminoles. On Monday, the ACC announced athletes of the week and game times. We’ll keep you posted on anything that happens Tuesday. Our news and notes section will be updated.

Lead Story

As was the case late last season, Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher is already starting to get mentioned for the LSU job. LSU fired head coach Les Miles and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron after an 18-13 loss to Auburn over the weekend.

Fisher obviously has ties to the school, serving as the Tigers’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under Nick Saban from 2000-06. Fisher was part of the 2003 team’s national championship staff as well.

Fisher has said before that he plans on staying in Tallahassee for a long time, but that is always subject to change. LSU is the only major power in Louisiana and it could throw a lot of money Fisher’s way. Only time will tell whether LSU targets Fisher or whether he’s willing to leave Tallahassee, but don’t expect the whispers about it to go away any time soon.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events Monday.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Tuesday.

News and Notes

Showtime’s “A Season With” will air at 10 p.m. Tuesday. It will chronicle the week leading up to Florida State’s 55-35 win over South Florida.

According to reports, the 2016 ACC Football Championship will be held at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. The conference previously moved neutral site championships from North Carolina because of a controversial bathroom law. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Charlotte as it had been since 2010.

FSU head football coach Jimbo Fisher told reporters Tuesday that junior wide receiver Ja’Vonn Harrison had been suspended. Some outlets are reporting that Harrison is no longer a member of the team. Harrison has just seven career catches for 139 yards and a touchdown.
