It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans. Although there were no on-the-field events, Monday was a big day as FSU’s conference basketball schedule was released along with the revelation of the injury to football safety Derwin James. This post will be updated as the day goes on. Here’s what you need to know:

Lead Story

Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher confirmed Monday that the left knee injury to sophomore safety Derwin James suffered against Charleston Southern was a cartilage tear. Though there is no structural damage, surgery is necessary.

Fisher said there was no time frame for James’ return. We discussed FSU’s options moving forward. The most likely scenario is that sophomore A.J. Westbrook will start in his place.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events on Monday.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Tuesday, but the second episode of Showtime’s “A Season With” featuring FSU football will air. FSU volleyball will host rival Florida on Wednesday.
