Florida State junior goalkeeper Cassie Miller was named the ACC’s Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday while Offensive Player of the Week honors went to Clemson’s Julie Mackin.

In top-ranked Florida State’s 1-0 victory at Texas A&M on Friday, Miller saved all four Aggie shots on goal, including three in the final 12 minutes to preserve the shutout. Dating back to last season, it was Miller’s fifth shutout in six games.

Freshman Deyna Castellanos scored the only goal for FSU in the victory and also received recognition this week as the Seminoles were named Top Draw Soccer’s Team of the Week.

Florida State is off to a 1-0 start on the young season. After winning in College Station, the Seminoles will play back-to-back games in Tennessee against Vanderbilt on Thursday and at Middle Tennessee State on Sunday. FSU plays its home-opener against rival Florida on Sept. 2.
