Florida State has one 5-star cornerback committed for 2017 in Stanford Samuels III, but it wouldn’t mind adding another one for 2018.

On Friday, Patrick Surtain, Jr., a 5-star cornerback out of American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale , narrowed his list of schools down to five. Fortunately for the Seminoles, they made the cut.

FSU was joined by rivals Florida, Miami and Clemson as well as LSU. Surtain is currently listed at the No. 7 overall player for 2018, according to the 247Sports Composite and the top-ranked cornerback.

Surtain is the son of former NFL cornerback Patrick Surtain. Surtain the elder, played his college ball at Southern Mississippi before spending 11 seasons in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs. As a member of the Dolphins, Surtain made three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2002-04.

Florida State currently has one cornerback committed for 2018 in Jacksonville product Isaiah Bolden. The Seminoles have the No. 2 overall class for 2018, according to the 247Sports Composite, behind only rival Miami.
