The preseason watch list selections continue to pile up for Florida State junior running back Dalvin Cook.

On Thursday, Cook was among 80 FBS running backs named to the Doak Walker Award watch list, which goes to the nation’s best back. The award is named after SMU legend and former Heisman Trophy winner Doak Walker.

As a sophomore in 2015, Cook enjoyed the greatest season ever for an FSU running back, totaling 1,691 yards on the ground to go along with 20 total touchdowns. Cook bested Warrick Dunn’s school-record for rushing yards in a season by more than 400.

Cook’s production came despite battling a hamstring injury for much of the season, which included him being forced to miss an Oct. 31 contest with Syracuse. Cook’s best performance a season ago came in a Week 2 victory over South Florida when he rushed for 266 yards and three touchdowns.

Cook hopes to become the first Seminole ever to win the Walker Award. Last season’s winner was Alabama running back and Heisman Trophy recipient, Derrick Henry.

Cook was previously named to Maxwell Award watch list. Florida State opens its 2016 season in Orlando against Ole Miss on Sept. 5.
