Florida State center Alec Eberle was previously named to the Rimington Trophy watch list, which is the award handed out annually to the nation’s best center. On Wednesday, Eberle was added to a watch list that combines on and off-the-field achievement.

Eberle was among 88 FBS players named to the watch list for the Wuerffel Trophy. The award named for former Florida quarterback and 1996 Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel incorporates community service with athletic accomplishment.

After batting Corey Martinez and Ryan Hoefeld for playing time early in the year, Eberle started the final six games of the 2015 season at center.

Off the field, Eberle has been actively involved with Kidz 1st Fund. That’s a nonprofit founded by FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher and ex-wife Candi that aims to raise money for Fanconi amenia research and support.

Fanconi anemia is a rare blood disease that attacks one’s bone marrow. Jimbo and Candi Fisher’s youngest son, Ethan, suffers from the rare disease.
