FSU Has School-Record 241 Athletes Make Academic Honor Roll

Florida State put up high scores on the playing field and off of it this academic year as the Seminoles had a school-record 241 student-athletes make the ACC’s Academic Honor Roll, which was announced Thursday.

To receive the honor, students have to maintain a 3.0 grade point average or better in the classroom, according to a release. As a whole, the ACC honored a record 4,368 athletes. Duke had the most in the conference with 480 while Georgia Tech had the fewest with 165.

Florida State tennis star Daneika Borthwick and baseball pitcher Mike Compton were among 32 ACC athletes to make the academic honor roll for a fifth time.

Other notable Seminoles to do well in the classroom were men’s golf star Hank Lebioda and ACC Softball Player of the Year, Alex Powers. Fellow All-ACC softball performers Morgan Klaevemann, Ellie Cooper and Meghan King were also honored.

FSU’s star shortstop on the baseball diamond, Taylor Walls, made the honor roll as did catcher Cal Raleigh and pitchers Drew Carlton and Tyler Holton among others. Soccer stars Carson Pickett and Cheyna Williams were honored as well.

Notable football players to make the list include quarterback Deondre Francois, centers Corey Martinez and Ryan Hoefeld and tight end Mavin Saunders.
