Florida State’s baseball season came to an end on Monday with a 7-0 loss to Florida in the decisive game of the Gainesville Super Regional. With football season still about three months away, it’s going to be a quiet couple of months for FSU athletics. Here’s Tuesday’s stock report:

Stock Up

FSU pitcher Drew Carlton: It proved to be inconsequential to the overall outcome of the Gainesville Super Regional, but FSU sophomore pitcher Drew Carlton had the performance of a lifetime to open the 3-game series on Saturday night. Carlton tossed a 2-hit shutout while striking out five and walking none. In fact, Carlton faced just one hitter over the minimum in the 3-0 FSU victory and made a strong case to be the team’s ace in 2016. Carlton finishes the year with an 8-3 record and a 3.94 ERA.

Former FSU golfer Daniel Berger: Former Seminole Daniel Berger won his first PGA Tour event over the weekend. Berger finished -13 to beat three others including another former FSU golfer in Brooks Koepka by three strokes at the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis. Berger had three previous top-10 finishes before finally nabbing his first win.

Stock Down

The FSU offense: After averaging more than 10 runs per game during the ACC Tournament and Tallahassee Regional, FSU was held to just three total runs during the Gainesville Super Regional. In three games, the Seminoles also managed just 13 hits. FSU was shut out for the final 22 innings of its trip to Gainesville.

Former FSU guard Malik Beasley: Former Florida State guard Malik Beasley’s draft stock has been all over the place since declaring for the 2016 NBA Draft. The recent round of mock projections currently have Beasley falling into the 20s. He was previously projected to be a lottery pick. Beasley averaged 15.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in his only season as a Seminole. The draft is set for June 23 in Brooklyn.

Worth Noting

  • Last Friday, Florida State third baseman John Sansone was drafted in the eighth round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft. Sansone was the only FSU player selected. Sansone hit .370 as a senior with 9 home runs and 65 RBIs.
  • FSU catcher Cal Raleigh was named a first-team Freshman All-American by NCBWA on Monday. He was previously honored by Louisville Slugger.
  • Florida State has agreed to a 1-year contract extension with head baseball coach Mike Martin through 2018. Martin has led FSU to the NCAA Tournament in each of his 37 years as head coach and is the winnigest active coach with 1,898 victories.
