Florida State catcher Cal Raleigh’s excellent season continued on Wednesday as the FSU backstop was named a Freshman All-American by Louisville Slugger.

A North Carolina native, Raleigh has held down a spot in the middle of the FSU batting order for most of the season. Raleigh has appeared in 59 of the Seminoles’ 60 games and is hitting .308 with 10 home runs and 50 RBIs. Raleigh ranks in the top three for the Seminoles in both power categories.

Raleigh was among 75 catchers named to the Johnny Bench Award watch list in March. During the Tallahassee Regional over the weekend, Raleigh was recognized as the catcher for the all-regional team.

Raleigh hopes to help Florida State reach the College World Series for the first time since 2012. To do that, FSU will need to take two of three from rival Florida during the NCAA’s Gainesville Super Regional, which begins on Saturday.
