With the NCAA Baseball Tournament set to take place, it stands to be a big weekend in Tallahassee. Here’s a look at who is rising and who is falling for Florida State:

Stock Up

FSU softball first baseman Alex Powers and third baseman Jessica Warren: Florida State corner infielders Alex Powers and Jessica Warren were named second and third team All-Americans this week by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. In their first game after being honored, each hit 2-run home runs, providing all the scoring in FSU’s 5-4 Women’s College World Series loss to Georgia.

Stock Down

FSU softball fielding: After committing just one total error in the first five games of the NCAA Tournament, the Seminoles tied a Women’s College World Series record on Thursday with seven. Six different FSU players committed an error, including shortstop Cali Harrod, who committed two. The seven errors led to four unearned runs for Georgia as the Bulldogs downed the Seminoles, 5-4.

Worth Noting

  • Florida State parted ways with swimming coach Frank Bradley on Wednesday. The Seminoles witnessed a noticeable decline in three years under Bradley.
  • Former Florida State All-American Terrell Buckley is among 75 potential College Football Hall of Fame inductees. Buckley holds FSU single-season and career interception records with 12 and 21 respectively.
  • Florida State third baseman John Sansone was named a third-team All-American by Louisville Slugger on Thursday. Sansone is hitting .365 this season with 9 home runs, 62 RBIs and an ACC-leading 22 doubles.
  • FSU will begin the double-elimination Tallahassee Regional on Friday. The Seminoles open with fourth-seeded Alabama State.
  • FSU’s softball team will look to keep its season alive on Saturday as it takes on UCLA. The Bruins lost to Auburn 10-3 on Thursday. The game will air at noon EST on ESPN.
